Diane Gracely became permanently disabled in 1997. Diane has Charcot Marie Tooth disease, also known as CMT. It's a debilitating progressive hereditary neuromuscular disease that deforms the patient's feet as they age.
There is no cure for CMT. At the age of 5, her parents noticed she began to fall a lot and her feet were showing signs of high arches and hammer toes. Diane's parents also noticed she had balance problems.
Over the years Diane's parents took her to see doctors and specialists, but no one knew what was wrong with Diane's feet. It wasn't till the age of 16, Diane was diagnosed with Charcot Marie Tooth.
By the age of 31, Diane's feet had become so badly deformed she could barely walk anymore without excruciating pain. In 1996, Diane began researching and found an orthopedic surgeon in Hershey, Pennsylvania who was very knowledgeable about CMT.
Diane made an appointment to see Dr. Paul Juliano in 1997. He told her that he could reconstruct her feet and get her walking again without the excruciating pain. Dr Juliano explained what he was going to do and Diane agreed to have the surgeries.
Diane had to resign from her 9 to 5 job knowing she would be laid up for approximately 3 years while having reconstructive surgeries on both feet. Her doctors also encouraged Diane to apply for Social Security Disability. They said she would be permanently disabled for the rest of her life.
Diane was always and go-getter and she knew she could not sit around recovering and do nothing for 3 years. So before her first surgery, she bought a computer and was determined to learn how to start her own home business online.
Diane's surgeries were a success, she's still walking today. But Diane's doctors have diagnosed her with several other diseases over the years. Diane fights a battle to survive every single day. But...
Diane is a go-getter and doesn't let her diseases stop her from working from home online to earn additional income. The knowledge she gained from the 3 years she was laid up, helped her to become a successful online business entrepreneur.
Diane has created more than 4 very successful home businesses over the years for extra income. Her disabilities and illnesses have progressed over the years, but it doesn't stop Diane from working online to SURVIVE and pay the bills.
On April 13, 2015, Diane was hit head-on by a drunk driver at 2 p.m. Diane suffered serious head trauma and neck and back disc herniations. She has had 2 neck fusions and still needs a back surgery.
There is so much more to Diane's personal story, but this is a very short version of some of it. Nothing stops Diane from working online to earn extra income to keep a roof over her head. Doctors and hospital bills are overwhelming but her basic needs are always met one way or another.
Diane is currently handknitting blankets and wraps out of her FAVORITE colors, NEON and bright colored yarns. She's an old hippie who loves neon, bright, and tie dye colors.
Diane also enjoys designing one-of-a-kind t-shirts. She was approved by the CMTA (Charcot Marie Tooth Association) to design and sell CMT educational tees and donate funds to the CMTA from product sales.
Diane designs many one-of-a-kind tees for hippies, bikers, cannabis patients, dog lovers, and so much more. Diane partnered with a T-shirt company called SunFrog, they do the printing and shipping of Diane's designs and she earns COMMISSIONS from all sales. See her artwork at DianesTees.com
